Please help keep Aqus Café’s doors Open

There is a serious possibility that Aqus Café will be required to stop live entertainment. This would most probably result in closing the café in the evenings and more dire consequences cannot be ruled out.

One Saturday evening last summer the music, which has always ended at 9pm, was louder than usual. A complaint was lodged with the city and the police by a neighbor. Because of this and because of our zoning we need to get an administrative conditional use permit from the Petaluma Planning department.

We have applied for this permit, which will be decided on during a planning department meeting this Monday, November 9th. (I had previously thought it was the planning commission but it is actually the planning department.)

I believe the people in planning department are doing exactly what they are supposed to do. If complaints are raised they must follow them through. Getting the CUP for live music is part of a process that we, as residents or business owners in Petaluma, have to do.

In the email please state your address. If you would, please let the planning department know what Aqus Café had meant to the local community through our support of local musicians, artists, story tellers, authors and comedians. We have had many, many fundraisers for local organizations including schools and other non-profits. And our live entertainment has always stopped at 9pm in consideration of our neighbors.

I cannot stress how important the live music is to the viability of Aqus Café as a business. Please help me get this permit issued.
